Youth Ministry Announcement - May 15, 2020

Dear Youths and Family,

This Sunday May 17 from 2:30 pm -3:30 pm is our last online class. 

Two things are required from our youths:

1)  Attend our Zoom class.  The link will be texted to you on Sunday morning.  Joseph Beeman who is a seminarian will join us and share about his experience and how he is discerning God's call to him to priesthood.

2)  Do Homework  below  - Due on May 24!

  Youth and Godparent (Sponsor) Phone Interview Activity

Interview your godparent (sponsor) by asking them these questions.  Write down a summary of their answer for each question and  turn it in to me via email,  or send me a photo of the written anwers.

Goal: Youth interviews sponsor on the journey of faith.

Call your godparent (sponsor) and get to know them.  Ask them the following questions.

Interview Questions:  Write down your godparent's (sponsor's) answers. 

1)  What is your prayer life like? Are you able to pray consistently?
2)  When did you become Catholic?
3)  Did you grow up cradle Catholic?
4)  Was there a time in your life when things were difficult that caused you to pull away from God? Or did it bring you closer God?
5)  Did you always have a close relationship with God? How has that relationship developed throughout your life?
6)  What is your advice for me as a Confirmation candidate to grow closer to God?
7)  Do you have any last pieces of advice for me?

Afterwards take time to reflect on your experience.

Reflection Questions:  Write down your reflection.
Out of this experience of interviewing your sponsor, what is one thing that touched you the most?
What is something that you will apply to your own faith life?

High School Youth Group Ministry & Confirmation Preparation


High School Youth Group - This Fall of 2019, the South Seattle parishes of St. Paul, St. Edward, St. George and St. Peter put in place a High School youth ministry open to all High School age youths from the four parishes. 

Goals of Youth Ministry 1

  1. To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
  2. To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
  3. To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

Confirmation Preparation - This preparation is for High School youths from 9th-12th grade who want to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Candidates will be required to participate in the High School Youth Group as part of their preparation. 

Candidates for Confirmation:

  • is baptized in the Catholic Church
  • is of High School age - 9th to 12th grade
  • will attend Mass regularly
  • will participate in the High School Youth Group
  • will attend Confirmation Classes
  • will attend an Archdiocesan Retreat in the Spring
  • will pariticipate in mission and service 
  • will choose a Sponsor (god-parent)
  • will choose a Saint as their spiritual patron
