Dear Families,

Some of you have seen me around lately and were asking how I was doing. It prompted me to do a little health update so that you’d know how I was doing. As most of you know I started the prep work this last week for my stem cell transplant. I have a bunch of appointments for the next two weeks. After all the tests are done (and hopefully they won't find anything) I am tentatively set to do the transplant on April 14. Monday of Holy week.

If that still stands I will be admitted to the hospital on Saturday, April 12 and receive a heavy dose of the chemo drug Melphalan. Then I'll have a "day of rest" on Sunday (how appropriate right?). Then on Monday I'll get about 4 million of my stem cells back. They've been frozen since September when they were harvested. The plan is for me to spend fourteen days in the hospital, then I’ll be coming home at the end of April to continue another four weeks of isolation. My friend, Fr. Steve Sallis, will be my caregiver during that time. He will be isolated as well. If anything changes I'll let you know. Thanks for all your prayers and support!

Queridas familias,

Algunos de ustedes me han visto últimamente y me han preguntado cómo estoy. Esto me motivó a darles una breve actualización de salud para que   sepan cómo estoy. Como la mayoría sabe, comencé la semana pasada con los preparativos para mi      trasplante de células madre. Tengo varias citas           durante las próximas dos semanas. Después de que se realicen todas las pruebas (y espero que no encuentren nada), tentativamente tengo previsto hacerme el trasplante el 14 de abril, lunes de Semana Santa.

Si eso sigue así, ingresaré en el hospital el sábado 12 de abril y recibiré una dosis alta del           medicamento de quimioterapia, Melfalán. Luego tendré un "día de descanso" el domingo (¡qué apropiado, ¿verdad?). El lunes recibiré unos 4 millones de mis células madre. Han estado congeladas desde      septiembre, cuando las extrajeron. El plan es que      pase catorce días en el hospital y luego volveré a casa a finales de abril para continuar otras cuatro semanas de aislamiento. Mi amigo, el Padre... Steve Sallis será mi cuidador durante ese tiempo. Él también estará aislado. Si algo cambia, les avisaré. ¡Gracias por         todas sus oraciones y apoyo!
