Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe that Advent is just around the corner. The Church year will soon be ending and we will begin a new Liturgical Year starting on December 1 with the Advent Season. This is a time of preparation to celebrate the anniversary of Jesus’s birth at Christmas as well as his second coming at the end of time. For most of us it is also a busy time filled with parties, shopping, travel, and more. It is easy to get caught up in the busyness and the commercial aspects of Christmas, and to let this beautiful season of waiting pass us by. I invite you to take some time this week to reflect on how you would like your Advent Season to look this year. Are there special traditions you’d like to share with your family such as a Jesse Tree or Advent wreath? Maybe you would like to create some intentional space by joining one of Advent Small Faith-Sharing groups that will start meeting the week of November 24th? We will be praying two novenas in December for Our Lady of Guadalupe and Simbang Gabi as well as hosting an Advent Organ Concert and a St. Nicholas Festival. Or maybe you’d like to do some intentional service for others in our community? Whatever you choose, I hope this is a grace-filled time for you that connects you to our wonderful community and helps you to reflect on the amazing act of a God who chose to become one of us to walk beside us in our messy humanity.

Queridas familias,

           Cuesta creer que el Adviento está a la vuelta de la esquina. El año de la Iglesia pronto terminará y comenzaremos un nuevo Año Litúrgico que comenzará el 1 de diciembre con el Tiempo de Adviento.  Este es un tiempo de preparación para celebrar el aniversario del nacimiento de Jesús en Navidad, así como su segunda venida al final de los tiempos. Para la mayoría de nosotros también es una época muy ocupada llena de fiestas, compras, viajes y más. Es fácil quedar atrapado en el ajetreo y los aspectos comerciales de la Navidad y dejar pasar esta hermosa temporada de espera. Te invito a tomarte un tiempo esta semana para reflexionar sobre cómo te gustaría que fuera tu temporada de Adviento este año. ¿Hay tradiciones especiales que le gustaría compartir con su familia, como el árbol de Jesse o la corona de Adviento? ¿Quizás le gustaría crear un espacio intencional uniéndose a uno de los pequeños grupos de Adviento para compartir la fe que comenzarán a reunirse la semana del 24 de noviembre? Rezaremos dos novenas en diciembre por Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y Simbang Gabi, además de organizar un Concierto de Órgano de Adviento y un Festival de San Nicolás.   ¿O tal vez le gustaría hacer algún servicio intencional para otros en nuestra comunidad? Elijas lo que elijas, espero que este sea un momento lleno de gracia para ti que te conecte con nuestra maravillosa comunidad y te ayude a reflexionar sobre el acto asombroso de un Dios que eligió convertirse en uno de nosotros para caminar a nuestro lado en nuestra humanidad desordenada.

           Thật khó để tin rằng Mùa Vọng sắp đến gần. Năm Phụng vụ sắp kết thúc và chúng ta sẽ bắt đầu Năm Phụng vụ mới bắt đầu từ ngày 1 tháng 12 với Mùa Vọng. Đây là thời gian chuẩn bị kỷ niệm ngày sinh nhật của Chúa Giêsu vào dịp Giáng sinh cũng như ngày Chúa đến lần thứ hai vào ngày tận thế. Đối với hầu hết chúng ta, đó cũng là khoảng thời gian bận rộn với những bữa tiệc, mua sắm, du lịch, v.v. Thật dễ dàng bị cuốn vào sự bận rộn và những khía cạnh thương mại của Lễ Giáng Sinh, và để cho mùa chờ đợi đẹp đẽ này trôi qua. Tôi mời ông bà anh chị em dành chút thời gian trong tuần này để suy ngẫm xem ông bà anh chị em muốn Mùa Vọng năm nay của mình sẽ diễn ra như thế nào? Có truyền thống đặc biệt nào không? ng bà anh chị muốn chia sẻ với gia đình mình như Cây Giáng Sinh hay vòng hoa Mùa Vọng? Có lẽ ông bà anh chị em muốn tạo ra một số không gian có chủ ý bằng cách tham gia một trong những nhóm Chia sẻ Niềm tin Nhỏ trong Mùa Vọng sẽ bắt đầu họp vào tuần 24 tháng 11? Chúng tôi sẽ cầu nguyện hai tuần cửu nhật vào tháng 12 cho Đức Mẹ Guadalupe và Simbang Gabi cũng như tổ chức Buổi hòa nhạc Organ Mùa Vọng và Lễ hội Thánh Nicholas.   Hoặc có thể ông bà anh chị em muốn thực hiện một số hoạt động phục vụ có chủ ý cho những người khác trong cộng đồng của chúng ta? Dù ông bà anh chị em chọn gì, tôi hy vọng đây là khoảng thời gian tràn đầy ân sủng để kết nối ông bà anh chị em với cộng đồng tuyệt vời của chúng ta và giúp ông bà anh chị em suy ngẫm về hành động tuyệt vời của một vị Chúa đã chọn trở thành một người trong chúng ta để bước đi bên cạnh chúng ta trong nhân loại hỗn độn của chúng ta.
