Dear Families

We have had a full house at the Rectory these past couple of months. Fr. Simham has been with us as well as Fr. Felino. I hope you’ve had an opportunity of visiting with both of them. It’s nice for them to come back and reconnect with our parishioners. In addition, a few visiting priests from Mexico, India, and the Philippines have been here for a few days for various celebrations and liturgies.

As many of you know, Fr. Kevin Duggan (retiring Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe in West Seattle), will be living here at St. Edward Rectory after he formally takes Senior Status this July. We look forward to having him. Actually, Fr. Kevin and I go way back. We’ve been friends since the late 80s. I was hired as Youth Minister at St. John Bosco Parish in Lakewood in 1987. Kevin was the Pastoral Associate (the job that Jennifer has with us) at the same parish. We got to know each other well in my time there and have become good friends in the process. I went into the seminary in 1991 and was ordained in 1995. Kevin went into the seminary after that and was ordained in 1998.

Fr. Armando and I look forward to welcoming him home at the Rectory shortly. Fr. Kevin will be a “priest in residence” with no formal assignment as a retired priest. However, you may see him around as he’d like to celebrate a Mass or two with our communities as he is able. We want to say a special word of welcome to Fr. Kevin, and once he is settled, we’ll have a special time for you to come and get to know him.

Queridas familias

Hemos tenido casa llena en la Rectoría estos últimos meses. P. Simham ha estado con nosotros así como el P. Felino. Espero que hayas tenido la oportunidad de visitarlos a ambos. Es bueno para ellos regresar y reconectarse con nuestros feligreses. Además, algunos sacerdotes visitantes de México (P. Jesus), India y Filipinas estuvieron aquí durante unos días para diversas celebraciones y liturgias.

Como muchos de ustedes saben, el P. Kevin Duggan (pastor jubilado de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en el oeste de Seattle), vivirá aquí en la rectoría de St. Edward después de que tome formalmente el estatus de mayor en julio. Esperamos contar con él. En realidad, el P. Kevin y yo nos remontamos hace mucho tiempo. Somos amigos desde finales de los 80. Fui contratado como Ministro de Jóvenes en la Parroquia St. John Bosco en Lakewood en 1987. Kevin era el Asociado Pastoral (el trabajo que Jennifer tiene con nosotros) en la misma parroquia. Nos conocimos bien durante el tiempo que estuve allí y nos hicimos buenos amigos en el proceso. Entré al seminario en 1991 y fui ordenado sacerdote en 1995.
