Dear Families,

This weekend we celebrate the final Sunday of Advent and light the last purple candle as we focus on the theme of Love. This week we also celebrate Christmas when Love came to live among us in the person of Jesus. As John 3:16 tells us, “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” As Catholics we believe that Jesus is fully human and fully divine. God came into the chaos of our world as a human baby, dependent on others for his care and nurturing. Jesus knows what is it is to be human…to wake up with a stiff back, have a bloody nose, to skip and run. He knows what it feels like to be betrayed by a friend, cry over the death of a loved one, laugh over a shared meal, and celebrate at a wedding. At the same time, he is fully divine, offering us mercy, redemption, transformation, and a glimpse of the Kingdom of God. He teaches us how to draw near to the Father, how to give our lives for others, and sends us his Holy Spirit to strengthen us on our journey. As Hebrews 4:16-16 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin. So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help.” This Christmas let us reflect on the amazing gift we have been given…a God who chooses to be near us in our chaos and brokenness, a God who constantly offers us mercy and grace, a God who loves us unconditionally and smiles from ear to ear every time we again draw near. Queridas familias,

           Este fin de semana celebramos el último domingo de Adviento y encendemos la última vela morada mientras nos centramos en el tema del Amor. Esta semana también celebramos la Navidad cuando el Amor vino a vivir entre nosotros en la persona de Jesús. Como nos dice Juan 3:16: “Tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único, para que todo el que cree en él no perezca, sino que tenga vida eterna”. Como católicos  creemos que Jesús es plenamente humano y plenamente divino. Dios entró en el caos de nuestro mundo como un bebé humano, dependiente de otros para su cuidado y crianza. Jesús sabe lo que es ser humano... despertarse con la espalda rígida, con la nariz sangrando, saltar y correr. Él sabe lo que se siente al ser traicionado por un amigo, llorar por la muerte de un ser querido, reír durante una comida compartida y celebrar en una boda. Al mismo tiempo, es plenamente divino y nos ofrece misericordia, redención, transformación y una vislumbre del Reino de Dios. Nos enseña cómo acercarnos al Padre, cómo dar nuestra vida por los demás y nos envía su Espíritu Santo para fortalecernos en nuestro camino. Como dice Hebreos 4:16-16: “Porque no tenemos un sumo sacerdote que no sea incapaz de compadecerse de nuestras debilidades, sino uno que igualmente ha sido probado en todo, pero sin pecado. Así que acerquémonos con confianza al trono de la gracia para recibir misericordia y    encontrar gracia para recibir ayuda oportuna”. Esta Navidad reflexionemos sobre el increíble regalo que hemos recibido... un Dios que elige estar cerca de nosotros en nuestro caos y quebrantamiento, un Dios que constantemente nos ofrece misericordia y gracia, un Dios que nos ama incondicionalmente y sonríe de oreja a oreja. cada vez que volvemos a acercarnos. ¡Feliz navidad!

Kính gửi ông Bà Anh Chị Em,

           Cuối tuần này, chúng ta kỷ niệm Chúa nhật cuối cùng của Mùa Vọng và thắp ngọn nến tím cuối cùng khi chúng ta tập trung vào chủ đề Tình yêu. Tuần này chúng ta cũng kỷ niệm Giáng sinh khi Tình Yêu đến sống giữa chúng ta trong con người của Chúa Giêsu. Thánh John 3:16 nói với chúng ta, "Đức Chúa Trời yêu thương thế gian đến nỗi đã ban Con một của Ngài, hầu cho mọi người tin Con Ngài không bị hư mất mà được sự sống đời đời." Là người Công giáo, chúng ta tin rằng Chúa Giêsu hoàn toàn là con người và hoàn toàn thiêng liêng. Thiên Chúa bước vào sự hỗn loạn của thế giới chúng ta như một đứa trẻ con người, phụ thuộc vào người khác để chăm sóc và nuôi dưỡng. Chúa Giê-su biết làm người là gì... thức dậy với lưng cứng, có máu mũi, bỏ qua và chạy. 

Ngài biết cảm giác như thế nào khi bị một người bạn phản bội, khóc vì cái chết của một người thân yêu, cười vì một bữa ăn chung và ăn mừng trong một đám cưới. Đồng thời, Ngài hoàn toàn thiêng liêng, ban cho chúng ta lòng thương xót, sự cứu chuộc, biến đổi và một cái nhìn thoáng qua về Vương quốc của Thiên Chúa. Ngài dạy chúng ta cách đến gần Chúa Cha, cách hiến mạng sống của chúng ta cho người khác, và gửi cho chúng ta Chúa Thánh Thần của Ngài để củng cố chúng ta trên hành trình của chúng ta. Như Hê-bơ-rơ 4:16-16 nói, "Vì chúng ta không có một thầy tế lễ thượng phẩm không thể thông cảm với sự yếu đuối của chúng ta, nhưng là một thầy tế lễ thượng phẩm đã được thử thách về mọi mặt, nhưng không có tội lỗi. Vì vậy, chúng ta hãy tự tin đến gần ngai ân sủng để nhận được lòng thương xót và tìm thấy ân sủng để được giúp đỡ kịp thời". Giáng sinh này, chúng ta hãy suy ngẫm về món quà tuyệt vời mà chúng ta đã được ban cho... một Thiên Chúa chọn ở gần chúng ta trong sự hỗn loạn và tan vỡ của chúng ta, một Thiên Chúa liên tục ban cho chúng ta lòng thương xót và ân sủng, một Thiên Chúa yêu thương chúng ta vô điều kiện và mỉm cười mỗi khi chúng ta đến gần. Chúc Mừng Giáng Sinh!
