Dear Families,

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, a day of manifestation and revelation. In the Gospel story Jesus is revealed to the Magi, who represent the Gentiles coming from a far off country. Jesus didn’t just come for the Israelites but for everyone. The Psalm tells us, “Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.” We have the opportunity to witness that reality every day in our South Seattle Parish Family. We come from many nations and many languages to make up one family of God. Recently, we celebrated an Evening of Peace with members of the Saint Naamtallah Hardini Lebanese Community who worship at St. Peter and the Our Lady of Zavanycia Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church community that is just up the road from St. George. We shared our intercessions and prayed the rosary in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Ukrainian. It was beautiful to hear prayers rising to God in some many languages. And in these times of division and war, it felt like a little glimpse into the Kingdom of Heaven, when all God’s children will be united as one in peace. This week, let us give thanks for all those who passed on the faith to us and for all those who teach us new dimensions of the faith by sharing their traditions with us. Let us work together to find ways to bridge the divides and seek greater unity in this beautiful, mystical Body of Christ.

Queridas familias,

           Este fin de semana celebramos la Fiesta de la Epifanía del Señor, un día de manifestación y   revelación. En la historia del Evangelio, Jesús se revela a los Magos, que representan a los gentiles venidos de un país lejano. Jesús no vino sólo por los israelitas sino por todos. El Salmo nos dice: “Señor, todas las naciones de la tierra te adorarán”. Tenemos la oportunidad de presenciar esa realidad todos los días en nuestra Familia Parroquial del Sur de Seattle. Venimos de muchas naciones y muchos idiomas para formar una familia de Dios. Recientemente, celebramos una Noche de Paz con miembros de la comunidad libanesa de Saint Naamtallah Hardini que adoran en la comunidad de la Iglesia greco-católica ucraniana de St. Peter y Our Lady of Zavanycia, que está justo al final de la calle de St. George. Compartimos nuestras intercesiones y rezamos el rosario en inglés, español, vietnamita, árabe y ucraniano. Fue hermoso escuchar oraciones elevadas a Dios en muchos    idiomas. Y en estos tiempos de división y guerra, sentí como un pequeño vistazo al Reino de los     Cielos, cuando todos los hijos de Dios estarán unidos como uno en paz. Esta semana, demos gracias por todos aquellos que nos transmitieron la fe y por   todos aquellos que nos enseñan nuevas dimensiones de la fe al compartir sus tradiciones con nosotros. Trabajemos juntos para encontrar maneras de superar las divisiones y buscar una mayor unidad en este hermoso y místico Cuerpo de Cristo.

           Cuối tuần này, chúng ta mừng Lễ Hiển Linh của Chúa, một ngày của sự biểu lộ và mặc khải. Trong câu chuyện Phúc âm, Chúa Giêsu được mặc khải cho các nhà thông thái, những người đại diện cho những người ngoại đạo đến từ một đất nước xa xôi. Chúa Giêsu không chỉ đến vì người Israel mà còn vì tất cả mọi người. Thánh Vịnh nói với chúng ta rằng, "Lạy Chúa, mọi quốc gia trên trái đất sẽ tôn thờ Chúa." Chúng ta có cơ hội chứng kiến ​​thực tế đó mỗi ngày trong Gia đình Giáo xứ Nam Seattle của chúng ta. Chúng tôi đến từ nhiều quốc gia và nhiều ngôn ngữ để tạo nên một gia đình của Chúa. Gần đây, chúng tôi đã cử hành một Buổi tối Hòa bình với các thành viên của Cộng đồng người Liban Saint Naamtallah Hardini thờ phượng tại Nhà thờ Thánh Peter và cộng đồng Nhà thờ Công giáo Hy Lạp Ukraina Đức Mẹ Zavanycia nằm ngay trên đường từ Nhà thờ Thánh George. Chúng tôi đã chia sẻ lời cầu bầu của mình và cầu nguyện kinh Mân Côi bằng tiếng Anh, tiếng Tây Ban Nha, tiếng Việt, tiếng Ả Rập và tiếng Ukraina. Thật tuyệt vời khi được nghe những lời cầu nguyện dâng lên Chúa bằng nhiều ngôn ngữ. Và trong thời điểm chia rẽ này và chiến tranh, nó giống như một cái nhìn thoáng qua về Vương quốc Thiên đàng, khi tất cả con cái của Chúa sẽ được hợp nhất như một trong hòa bình. Tuần này, chúng ta hãy cảm ơn tất cả những người đã truyền đức tin cho chúng ta và tất cả những người dạy chúng ta những chiều kích mới của đức tin bằng cách chia sẻ truyền thống của họ với chúng ta. Chúng ta hãy cùng nhau làm việc để tìm cách thu hẹp khoảng cách và tìm kiếm sự hiệp nhất lớn hơn trong Thân thể huyền bí, xinh đẹp của Chúa Kitô này.
